CBD Capsules are a convenient and easy way to get your daily dose of a high quality CBD. When you are looking to buy UK CBD capsules you may notice there’s a large range of different types and strengths available.
It can seem confusing knowing which is best. Don’t worry in this video and article we answer the question What are CBD Capsules? You will learn how they are made, strengths you can choose and also how to use them.
How do CBD Capsules Work?
When we digest CBD it usually takes an hour to travel through the digestive process before it is metabolised by the liver.
We do loose a small proportion in this digestive process however it is the longest lasting method of consumption staying in the system for around 8 hours. Therefore most people just take 1 capsule a day.
Unfortunately legislation in the UK will not allow us to tell you why you would use CBD as this would be making a medical claim.
What we can say is that CBD feeds our Endocannabinoid System which is responsible for keeping our body in balance and therefore enhancing wellbeing.
Different Types Of Capsules
There’s a range of different types of CBD you can buy and some are definitely more effective than others. When you are buying a CBD Capsule it is best to see how it has been made. Here are the four main types you can choose to buy.
Full Spectrum CBD Capsules
What are CBD Capsules Full Spectrum ? These are the most effective because they contain the whole plant. They have a full spectrum of all the cannabinoids found within the industrial hemp plant.
This means they have the legal limit of 0.2% THC which is the cannabinoid that when taken in large amounts will cause a psychoactive (stoned) effect. Don’t worry though 0.2% is a trace amount so you will not feel stoned.
When we take the whole plant the cannabinoids work in synergy together and create an entourage effect. This means they have a greater impact on the body.
As an example if you take 10mg of a full spectrum CBD Capsule you would need 50mg of a CBD Isolate capsule to get the same effect.
This is why we specialise in full spectrum Capsules as we want you to get the best effect possible.
Broad Spectrum CBD Capsules
What are CBD Capsules Broad Spectrum ? These contain a broad range of the cannabinoids from the plant including CBD, Phyto cannabinoids and terpenes.
This is a good way to take CBD if you do not what to consume THC. THC is the only cannabinoid that has been taken out from these capsules.
Narrow Spectrum CBD Capsules
These have been made with CBD and a few of the other cannabinoids from the hemp plant. Its not the most effective way to consume CBD.
Isolate CBD Capsules
These have been made with just isolated CBD. This means they contain CBD but non of the other cannabinoids or terpenes from the hemp plant. Its the least effective way to take CBD and isn’t a product that we sell at Excite For Life.
Strengths Available and Dosage
When we first start taking CBD it is always best to start on 10mg a day. After several days listen to your body and if you feel it necessary you can increase to 20mg a day. Only you will know how much you need by listening to your body and increasing accordingly. Don’t worry you can’t overdose on CBD its just increasing gradually until you get to your CBD Sweet spot.
CBD Capsules come in a range of strengths. When you look at a product you want to look at how many MG in total is in the packet and also how many mg is in each capsule. This will help you to understand how long your capsules will last for. As an example
300mg – 30 x 10mg Capsules
If you were to take 10mg a day these would last 30 days.
Maybe you found that you were taking two or 3 capsules a day so going up to the next strength would mean you could just take 1 capsules a day of 25mg instead of 2 or 3 10mg capsules.
Can I take CBD Capsules with Medication?
We always suggest letting your doctor know you are using CBD. It is fine to take CBD in conjunction with medication but it is best to leave an hour gap.
As an example meds at 9am CBD either before 8am or after 10am. This is because if CBD was in the liver at the same time as your medication it could inhibit the hepatic drug metabolism.
This basically means that CBD is bringing the body to balance it sees the medication as a foreign object and tries to stop it being metabolised.
Obviously medication is important so as long as you eave an hour gap it will be fine.
Should I take CBD Capsules with food?
It’s preferable to take CBD capsules with food as when we digest CBD it can be more bioavailable in the body if it can mix with the fats from your meal.
It can also lower blood sugar in some cases so taking with food will prevent this. If you don’t take it with food it doesn’t really matter but to get the most out of the CBD it is preferred.

We love the planet and have packaged these capsules in a biodegradable Kraft pouch. These can be recycled but even if they do go in your general waste they will decompose quickly.
CBD Softgel Capsules Review
These have been made by encasing a full spectrum CBD Oil in a gelatine shell.
Although they are not vegan friendly they are a lot smaller than the capsules so easier to swallow.
Because of the gelatine layer it also makes them very bioavailable in the body.
They have been tested a third party laboratory so you know they are NON GMO, heavy metal and pesticide free. You also know you are getting an exact dosage of premium full spectrum CBD oil.
