4 Ways to Take CBD – Sublingual CBD Oils
CBD oil, otherwise known as cannabis oil, usually comes in a bottle with a pipette so that it can be dropped under the tongue. When putting the oil under the tongue, it takes around 15 minutes to reach the bloodstream through the mucus membranes in the mouth and lasts in the system for around 4-5 hours. This is why people usually take it once in the morning and once in the afternoon.
There are variations in strengths so if you are new to cannabidiol, it is always best to start on the lowest strength. We suggest starting on 10mg a day and gradually increasing as you feel necessary. Only you will know how much you need by listening to your body and adjusting accordingly. Don’t worry! You can’t overdose with this particular cannabinoid so it’s just about finding the right amount for your body. We like to call this your CBD sweet spot.
Our video on the Best CBD Oils for Beginners explains the different types of oils you can buy, their strengths and also how to calculate dosage.
A reputable CBD supplier will make sure that the product label states how much milligrams (mg) of cannabidiol there is in the bottle, e.g. 500mg or 1000mg. Furthermore, the label should state how much mg of cannabidiol is in each drop. If it is 2.5mg a drop and you want to take 10mg a day, you could take 2 drops in the morning and 2 drops in the afternoon.
Please don’t feel confused with percentages as it is not a relevant indicator for you to use. It just means what percentage of CBD Oil is in the bottle.
As an example, if it is a 10ml bottle with 500mg CBD oil, 5% is cannabidiol oil and 95% is a carrier oil like Hemp seed oil or MCT coconut oil.
It’s really about the mg of CBD in the bottle. That’s what you are paying for and this is important because if you take 10mg a day, you can work out that a 500mg bottle will last you 50 days.
Vaping or Dabbing
When we inhale cannabidiol through a device like a vape pen or a dab rig, it reaches the bloodstream within minutes. Therefore, it is ideal if you want a fast effect.
However it only lasts in the system for around an hour. If you would prefer a method that lasts longer, you would be better off choosing either a sublingual oil or CBD edible.
There are different types of CBD E-liquids, strengths and flavours to choose from. As always, if you are new to cannabidiol, it’s always best to get the lowest strength. You can watch our video on How to Vape CBD.
Digesting with Edibles
There is a large range of delicious CBD Edibles that are safe for the whole family to consume.
When we digest CBD, it usually takes an hour to travel through the digestive process before it is metabolised by the liver. We do loose a small proportion of cannabidiol in the process.
However, it is the longest lasting method, staying in the system for around 8 hours.
This is an ideal method for people who are sensitive to taste. Our edibles have a full spectrum CBD Oil infused into the Gummy, turning your daily dose of cannabidiol into a tasty treat.
Furthermore, we also offer CBD capsules that also include a full spectrum CBD Oil. As always, if you choose a gummy or capsule, it’s always best to start on the lowest strength.

Topical CBD Creams and Balms
CBD Cream’s are an ideal way to target a specific area of the body. When we apply a CBD balm, it absorbs through the top layer of the skin and attaches to the cells directly underneath. People will usually apply cannabidiol cream once or twice a day, depending on their reasons for using it. You can watch this video to learn more about CBD Creams and how to use them.
We are all wonderfully unique and have different bodies, health conditions and lifestyles. Therefore, these 4 ways to take CBD comes down to personal preference.
